Time Cost Quality Triangle

The time cost quality triangle is a useful concept to keep in mind throughout your self build and you'll find that once you are aware of it, it will pop into your head in all sorts of situations in life.

The Self Build Guide: Time Cost Quality Triangle

The triangle works on the principle that as more emphasis is placed on one element, less is placed on the others.

Example - If you want a very low cost build, then you will have to sacrifice quality and the length of time to get it done.

It is generally accepted that it's only possible to achieve two of the elements at the same time, so you can have a high quality build and you can get it done quickly.... but it'll cost ya!

To see how the elements fit into your project planning and management and for techniques on how to effectively control them, visit our project management section.
